Dr. Anil Boraskar: Guest Editor for Mar 2021
A good editorial is the one that’s best kept brief, imparts new knowledge, and ignites clinical actions. In a country like India, where one in three adults suffer from metabolic syndrome, especially when it comes to urban women, the risk is higher, it is extremely essential to keep pace with new methods and revised guidelines; such continuing education will help in the early diagnosis and treatment, especially focusing more towards the vulnerable and the high-risk groups.
This month, Metabolic Health Digest covers the latest guidelines on diabetes management during the month of Ramadan. We have an interesting feature on the foetal abdominal obesity in GDM and an article that throws light on new techniques to diagnose GDM. Beside these, this issue presents updates on the vascular effects of isoflavones on blood pressure, the management of hyperphosphotemia and anaemia in CKD patient.
I enjoyed reading all these articles and am hoping that you’ll also have a good time going through the content that’s hand-picked by me this month. Last but not the least, every March we observe the World Obesity Day. This year, my wife, Bina Boraskar, and I participated in a social media challenge that called for punching of the paunch; our objective was to create awareness about Obesity. I have accepted Bina’s challenge and am mindfully working on my weight management; and am committed to keep inspiring others around me to do so!
