Dr. Rajiv Kovil – Editorial January 2021
I take it as my absolute honor, in welcoming readers for the first publications of 2022!
Improving monitoring parameters would directly benefit the practitioners in improving the treatment strategies. A fair share of articles this month highlights the use of CGMS as an important monitoring device as supported by many kinds of research and a case study. An article that shows the importance of using CGMS on T1DM children in the first year of diagnosis should not be missed by the readers. Another article discusses the implication of triglyceride/ low density -lipoprotein cholesterol ratio.
Adequate sleep duration comes under the umbrella of a healthy lifestyle. Sleep causes disturbance in usual homeostasis that can lead to obesity and T2DM. Conversely, there is a high prevalence of sleep apnea in patients with T2DM. Along with this, articles highlighted the importance of weight loss in GDM patients after diagnosis and also the benefits of intermittent fasting with respect to weight loss.
As usual, an important piece of complications of diabetes is also taken care of by providing the readers with articles on beneficial insights between painful diabetic neuropathy and corneal loss, the importance of perirenal fat in predicting the incidence of CKD in patients with T2DM, discussing the higher risk of stroke in the patients with increase long term glycemic variability.
Lastly and most importantly, this month had put forward a summary providing highlights from updated ADA 2022 guidelines.
Happy Reading to everyone!
